The Wilderness Group changes lives… with soap
Wednesday, 25 January 2012
The Wilderness Group in Namibia recently undertook a new project whereby they tested a batch of new olive oil soap from a community project in Katutura run by six HIV-positive women. The project trains stigmatised women on everyday skills and generates income based on handcrafts, recycling and volunteering.

All profits are returned directly to the community to improve health and education of HIV-positive women and their children. The products are made from 100% pure olive oil without any preservatives or fragrances, and are skin and environment friendly.

So far, feedback from the Wilderness Adventures camps has been overwhelmingly positive. The guests love the story and, as a result, Wilderness ordered a batch from the women and changed the printing on the labels to say ‘Handmade for Wilderness Safaris’.
