Third terminal for Cairo
Monday, 04 May 2009

CAIRO International Airport has launched its new Terminal 3 Building (TB 3), which will host EgyptAir and its partner Star Alliance carriers.

A statement from the airport says TB 3 is one of the largest terminals in North Africa, and doubles the airport’s current passenger capacity.

Terminal 3 comprises a main building with two symmetrical wings. The wings are linked to each other, as well as to Terminal 2, through skywalk bridges.

The design of the terminal is expected to reduce transfer times between flights to 45 minutes, whether the transfers are domestic or international, and with different alliance partners.

The terminal is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology including self-service kiosks in the check-in hall, biometric immigration and fully automated baggage handling system with integrated online screening.

The new terminal also offers a duty-free section including international shops and exclusive brands. There are also food and beverage areas with local and international brands.
