SAA assessing Mumbai situation

SAA is currently assessing the situation in Mumbai in order to ensure that the airline safely transports passengers and crew from Mumbai back to SA.

SAA will continue with its scheduled flight, SA284, to Mumbai to collect passengers and crew. The flight will depart at 13h30 today,rather than the scheduled 11h30am. Further details of the return flight from Mumbai will be communicated in due course.

For passengers who are currently in Mumbai and holding valid SAA tickets, the airline will endorse all tickets for travel on other airlines. SAA is in contact with Jet Airways in India to assist in ensuring the safe transport of passengers and crew to Mumbai airport. SAA is informed that the airport in Mumbai remains secure and safe.

SAA CEO Khaya Ngqula says: “We are deeply concerned about the situation in Mumbai where apparent terrorist attacks are under way. We will do everything in our power to ensure the safe return of passengers and crew in Mumbai.”

SAA has confirmed that nine of the 12 SAA crew members in Mumbai have been located, and the airline is working with authorities to make contact with the remaining three crew members.

Etihad Airways has also advised that all flights to and from BOM are operating as normal, however certain domestic flights have been cancelled or delayed.
