Monday, 13 July 2015
Lufthansa will increase frequency on its Munich-Cape Town route this winter.

The German airline will operate a daily A340-600 service between the two cities from late October. It currently flies the route five-times weekly.

Outbound service LH574 departs Munich at 1905 and lands in Cape Town at 0735 the next day, with return leg LH575 leaving Cape Town at 0925 and arriving in Munich at 1950.

The carrier will also roster a four-class B747-8 aircraft - with eight seats in first class, 80 in business, 32 in premium economy and 244 in economy - on to its Frankfurt-Johannesburg route in October.

Andre Schulz, Lufthansa's general manager for South Africa, said: "South Africa continues to play a significant role in our African as well as intercontinental network.

"The four-class Boeing 747-8 is our most advanced long-haul aircraft, bringing unparalleled comfort and premium service to our customers with the most advanced, fuel- efficient long-haul aircraft in the Lufthansa fleet."

Lufthansa Group subsidiary Swiss operates daily A340 flights between Zurich and Johannesburg. It intends to upgrade the route to a B777-300 in the first half of next year.

Travellers booking Lufthansa Group tickets through an agent will soon face paying an extra booking fee of 16 euros (£11.60)
