SAA cancels codeshare with Virgin
Monday, 08 June 2015
According to eTNW, the codeshare agreement between South African Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airlines will come to an end in September, after a 10-year partnership.

“On 26 September, the airlines will terminate the codeshare on domestic routes,” said SAA spokesperson Tlali Tlali. “As we do not codeshare on any trunk routes, this will effectively terminate the codeshare.”

“We have had a valuable partnership with SAA over the last 10 years at a time when our networks complemented each other well,” said Darrin Thomas, Marketing and Communications Executive of Virgin Atlantic. “Following network changes and a shift in focus from both airlines, our codeshare agreement is coming to a natural end.”

Virgin is currently rebooking all passengers on cancelled codeshare flights onto the SA operating flight. Passengers booked on flights for travel up to and including 26 September will not be affected.

“Going forward, we will have a relationship with SAA on an interline basis as part of our commitment to the Johannesburg route,” said Thomas.
