Another strong blast of wind will sweep across northern Europe during the middle of this week.

During the beginning of the week, the wind will still be unsettled and breezy with showery conditions across northern Europe, but damaging weather is not expected.

An area of low pressure will strengthen across the North Atlantic as it nears Ireland on Wednesday. The wind will begin to increase across Ireland and the United Kingdom later in the day on Wednesday.

The greatest threat for damaging wind will come on Wednesday night and into Thursday across Ireland and Great Britain as the low tracks across Scotland. Wind gusts in many areas are expected to reach 80-100km/h. Coastal Ireland; Wales; and western England could potentially see gusts upwards of hurricane force.

In London, the strongest wind Wednesday night is expected to gust to near 100km/h. Wind could cause minor structural damage, down trees and cause isolated power outage. Travel delays are also very likely.

To accompany the wind, a band of soaking rainfall will move across the region.
