Update: LH flights back up and running
Friday, 04 April 2014
Lufthansa has confirmed that its flights from South Africa will begin operating again from today (April 4), signalling the end of the three-day strike by the airline’s pilots. The first flight from Johannesburg departs from OR Tambo International tonight.

Lufthansa has taken measures to assist clients who have been inconvenienced by the strike. “We are rebooking our passengers reactively and keeping them informed via email and SMS. Passengers stranded at airports are being sent to hotels and are receiving meals.  Those in transit because of expired visas are also being accommodated in transit hotels where available, and are receiving meals and refreshments,” says Axel Simon, director Southern Africa for Lufthansa and SWISS.

Affected passengers can get a refund for the unused portion of their ticket and rebook (without incurring a rebooking fee) on a Lufthansa group carrier, Star Alliance partner or any other carrier at a later date.
