LH strike, SA flights cancelled
Wednesday, 02 April 2014
A three day strike by Lufthansa pilots has caused massive disruption to hundreds of flights, forcing the carrier to cancel flights to and from South Africa.

The strike, which is the result of a dispute over pay and working conditions, is scheduled to last from April 2 to 4.

Lufthansa has confirmed that all flights leaving South Africa will be cancelled from tonight (April 1) until Thursday night. Flights from Germany will be cancelled from tomorrow night until Friday night.

“We regret this inconvenience and urge passengers to go onto Lufthansa’s website LH.com for the latest updates. We are currently rebooking our passengers wherever possible,” says Axel Simon, director for Southern Africa of Lufthansa German Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines.

Any passengers booked on Lufthansa flights between April 2 and 4, flying with a ticket issued no later than March 28, have the option of rebooking their flight free of charge.
