More room on Mango
Friday, 16 August 2013

The roll-out of Mango’s new seats begins this month, increasing the leg-room on the airline’s fleet by between six and 7.5 centimetres, depending on where the seats are located.

The new seats will replace the carrier’s existing seats during a replacement programme due for completion by April next year. This month, Mango’s two new-generation B737-800 aircraft will be the first to sport the new seats. The number of seats on board remains the same (186) throughout the airline’s fleet.

Mango ceo, Nico Bezuidenhout, said the new seats were slimmer and utilised available space efficiently. They are also lighter, saving in excess of 1,7 million tonnes in carbon emissions annually due to less fuel burn once the programme is completed.

“The savings in fuel allow Mango to lower its cost base even further, making it possible to contain fare affordability even more,” added Nico.
